Born and raised in Harvey, Illinois. Dr. Taylor received her educational foundation in the District 147 school system. She completed her last three years of high school in rural Arkansas. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Medicine Biology at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. While at Augustana, her initial interest in women’s health and preventive medicine piqued.
Upon graduating from Augustana College, she worked in social services as a Case Manager for the Treatment Alternative for Safer Communities (TASC) Women’s Furlough Program at Cook County Correctional Center in Chicago. While working in social services, Dr. Taylor completed a Master of Science degree in Preventive Medicine with an emphasis in Epidemiology at the University of Iowa. She received her Doctorate in Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.
Dr. Taylor completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mercy Hospital in Chicago. After residency, she fulfilled a National Health Service Corps commitment to the underserved at Access Community Health Care in Blue Island, Illinois. While at Access, she provided full scope obstetric and gynecologic care as well as group prenatal care via Centering in Pregnancy.
Dr. Taylor is a Board-Certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist who provided obstetric and gynecologic care as a locum physician at Near North Health and the Southern Illinois School of Medicine in Springfield. She is the former Medical Director of Special Populations at the Chicago Department of Public Health. She was a Medical Director of Preventive Medicine at Howard Brown Health in Chicago. Dr. Taylor was employed with Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago as an Obstetrician-Gynecologist, Laborist, and Associate Program Director.
She is an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Dr. Taylor served as a Junior Fellow member on the Council on Resident Education Committee (CREOG) from 2013-2017. She has an interest in maternal mortality, preventive health, wellness and menopausal transition. In addition, Dr. Taylor engages in political advocacy, via the annual Congressional Leadership Conference, lobbying on Capitol Hill with physicians from across the nation on issues impacting the delivery of equitable health care to women.
Dr. Taylor served on the admission committee and as a Community Mentor for medical students at Rosalind Franklin University-The Chicago Medical School. She is passionate about global health; her travels have taken her to Nicaragua, Kenya, Sierra Leone and Cuba. She is the Medical Director of Maternal Health for Nafsi Za Baadae, a Tanzanian based health organization whose goal is to improve maternal health outcomes.
Dr. Taylor is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. In her free time, she enjoys weightlifting with an aspiration to compete in the wellness category, shopping for eclectic sneakers, reading, baking, grilling, traveling, and spending free time with her husband.
She as been a frequent guest on WVON with hosts, Atiba and Darlene Hill, Samantha Thomas, Art Sims and Dana Divine. In addition, she was the host of Dr. Taylor’s Table Talk while working at the Chicago Department of Public Health. The show focused on the disparate health statistics in the Black community. She was the keynote speaker at Indiana University’s Black Maternal Health Week. Dr. Taylor has been featured on panels at the Black Women’s Expo (Maternal Mortality Panel, South Suburban Links, Chicago Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter) Dr. Taylor has also frequently provided medical expertise on Chicago Speaks with Darryl Denard, Candid Community Conversations with Gina Lamar, as well as Congressman Danny K Davis’, Couch Conversations. She is the founder of Facebook Live, 2 Old B’s Live, which focused on the intersection between health and current events.
